As I type this, I’m watching the events of 9-11 unfold on the news, just as it happened so many years ago today. My heart – in my throat – still breaks.
There are far too many words needed, so I’ll let these images do the majority of the talking. Please take a minute to leave some thoughts, reflections, or prayers below.
(The following were taken last month at the National September 11 Memorial Museum.)
The largest man-made waterfalls in the footprints of the Twin Towers.
Visiting the name of a fallen classmate.
The last column marks the formal end of a 9-month recovery effort.
First impact.
The “Survivors’ Stairs” and Memorial Urn.
No day shall erase you from the memory of time. Amidst the colors of the sky that day.
Once straight as an arrow.
Under a waterfall.
As we wrapped our visit there – several hours later – we watched a young boy sit in this firetruck. (Dad wasn’t too thrilled when he blasted the horn.) The firemen were patient and kind, but to the little guy, they were heroes. Just as they were 13 years ago when our lives were forever changed.
